The Art of Smart – A Case Study on RAS Submitted to Crowe Global

Last month, Crowe Global requested all member firms to participate in their thought leadership program, The Art of Smart 2019, to be released in a few months. To ensure the thought leadership has real local relevance, they needed more member firm’s involvement. Their particular requirement was a case study of clients and contacts citing examples of organizations across the network that have made smart decisions which have helped to create lasting value. After the initial brainstorming session, we decided to choose Royal Airport Services (Pvt.) Limited (RAS).

Below is the case study for knowledge sharing purpose.

Challenge:

The ERP department of Crowe Pakistan was in the process of implementing SAP’s Product, SAP B1, which was finalized by the Royal Airport Services (PVT.) Limited. The biggest challenge in this implementation was lack of any solution within the small to midsized market which could handle the operations of ground handling services. Generally, you will find that ERP applications for SMEs only tend to handle the financial/sales and procurement aspects and not the operational aspects of the business.  So this was the challenge that needed to be addressed.

The smart decision that we took to address this challenge was the development of 5 add-ons in SAP B1 for the ground handling services operations. These add-ons were industry specific solutions and were meant for ground handling services only. Currently these solutions are available to the International Market as a fully certified SAP add-on.

Decision:

Royal Airport Services (RAS) decided to proceed with the implementation of SAP B1 for effective management of their ground handling operations.

The client approached SAP to find out the best possible ERP solution to manage ground handling services. Meanwhile SAP approached us to build on the existing B1 solutions to manage the ground handling requirements of RAS. After several brainstorming sessions a solution was finalized in coordination with RAS management embedding all the solutions required to best handle the operations.  

Outcome:

Benefit for Client: RAS found a specified solution for their ground handling operations meeting all their requirements at an affordable price.  

Benefit for Crowe Pakistan: The project was one of its kind and new for Crowe Pakistan. Innovation and smart decision enabled us to cater for this challenge, opening new development avenues for us.

Benefit for SAP: This solution not only helped client to fulfil their needs but also helped SAP B1 by enhancing their product offerings in the SME space.
